Goodbye Quick Cards Made Easy

Good morning crafty friends, did you all have a lovely Christmas? It was a pretty quiet one here on the Isle of Wight which was just what we needed. We still have a few more days left to relax (my two and a half week break went out of the window) so we are determined to make the most of it!

So..I have some really sad news today, Quick Cards Made Easy magazine has ceased publication and the final issue is now available. I am very pleased to see my bird house card made it on the final front cover……

Hayley Rowe, the editor of the magazine, has been kind enough to commission me for the last two years from when I first went freelance and I’ve created projects for every issue since.

These bird house cards feature the BoBunny Serendipity collection and there is also a template in the magazine to create the card.

For a shabby chic look I added some subtle brown inking and some distressing as well as an extra touch of colour with paper flowers and gems.

Please grab your final copy of the magazine, Issue 174, while you can. It can be purchased here or at your local stockist.

I would like to wish Hayley and the team all the very best and I look forward to working on new ventures with them in the future.

Appy Christmas from The Charlatans

Good morning crafty friends, Santa is nearly starting his journey around the world! The food shopping is done, got to scrub the house this morning then I’m all ready for the festivities to begin.

I wanted to share a very different make for me, it was a Christmas card that I created for fans of the band The Charlatans…..

My very clever husband designed a phone app postcard for The Charlatans as part of a long running line of merchandise to show The Charlatans back catalogue in different ways. It was then decided that it would make an ideal Christmas card if turned into an actual phone which is where my paper skills came in!

The card featured 3D elements and a photo of The Charlatans. What made it extra special was the pocket containing a signed card from The Charlatan’s frontman Tim Burgess!

I sent the cards to Tim at their studio where they were rehearsing for their recent UK tour. Once they came back to my craft studio the fun began. After the cards were advertised on Twitter the response was amazing and the orders came flooding in!

In total I created around 100 individual hand-made cards which were then sent to Charlatans fans in the Uk and across the world. It was a labour of love for sure!

After lots of late nights crafting away this is what my craft studio floor looked like! It was a great experience to be involved in and it was great for Tim to get involved too. I also made a donation to The Brain Tumour Charity from The Charlatans fans in memory of their drummer Jon Brookes.

Same again next year?
