#docraftsmonday summery make

Hello crafty friends! It’s that time of the week again! I’m so sorry I didn’t manage to pop in for a chat during the week but as usual it was a very busy one doing lots of crafty things.

Finally I am here and I have a make to share with you that I made at my docrafts demonstration on Saturday at Pickwell Farm near Southampton…

This large 8 x 8″ aperture card is a mixture of twoof the brand new ranges from docrafts, Botanicals and Wild Rose. Both of these ranges are so versatile and perfect for this time of year.

The butterfly is a Bare Basics wooden shape which I’ve painted and distressed. I’ve used images from the Botanicals decoupage paper to decorate it and sealed it with some matt varnish. He sits happily in his scalloped aperture and rests of the background aperture which is made from parchment paper (my current obsession)!

have a little tip should you wish to try making a card like this, you may want to add some extra strips of card inside on each side of the aperture to help strengthen it a little as the butterfly is a little heavy and it will keep the card nice a rigid.

Work beckons for me now, have a lovely day,

Having Fun With Tando Creative

Hi crafty friends! It’s been a very busy week for me and I’m having a little lie in this morning (the perks of self employment!) after having a busy day yesterday at the Sincerely Yours show in Portsmouth. I was really chuffed to be asked by Carolyn from Pickwell Farm to help out on their stall and make some goodies using Tando Creative.

Now I’m being honest here, I hadn’t come across their products before so it was great to experiment and I was really impressed. Here’s a make from the day

Tando manufacture a vast range of chipboard shapes which can painted, inked, covered, embossed, stamped….you name it, you can do it! They are so versatile. This Gothic arch was really quick to glue together (PVA is best) and I painted it with Acrylic paints. I cut out and glued small flowers on it and then added decoupage elements all from the new docrafts Botanicals range.

There are some lovely cute smaller shapes which are ideal for adding to cards. I’ve painted, decoupaged and varnished the hot air balloon here and painted, inked and layered flowers on the other card.

Finally, I’ve painted and added clear gloss to these hearts and finally had a play with my favourite girl Gorjuss and placed her in the theatre shape which I’ve painted and added gold embossing powder around the edges.

It was lovely to have the opportunity to play with some new goodies, thanks again Carolyn for a fun day!

Have a great day!

Gorjuss Enjoys The Countryside

Hellllloooooo! Another week has gone by and things have been very busy. There’s been lots of sewing to do and lots of crafting to do! I’ve been a busy bee sorting out samples for next weeks demo for Pickwell Crafts at Sincerely Yours in Portsmouth (I will share these later in the week) but as well as enjoying a bit of sunshine I have made a little something for #docraftsmonday. I still can’t resist the chance to play around with Gorjuss and I’ve made a quick card featuring her and the countryside border dies…

These fabulous dies are great to layer up and create a card really quickly. I’ve used the Gorjuss papers in various colours to achieve the countryside and I’ve added a little a Gorjuss character and tucked her in the undergrowth.

I’ve triple embossed her with clear embossing powder to make her really stand out and I’ve put the whole scene into a scalloped oval. I’ve also added a smaller scalloped oval aperture in parchment paper behind the scene. Parchment paper apertures are my new obsession! I haven’t had one for a while but I’m enjoying experimenting with these!

I’ve kept the rest of the card fairly simple with some punched flowers, ribbon and a small sentiment. I will let Gorjuss shine through, my favourite girl! Don’t forget to add your projects to the docrafts Facebook page or on Twitter every Monday and add #docraftsmonday to your makes. I love seeing what everyone has been up to!

Have a great day….

#docraftsmonday is here again!

Good morning crafty friends! Things have been very busy here on the Isle of Wight this weekend, thousands have descended on us for the festival and are now making their way back home looking a little sorry for themselves!

Myself and Hoobs had a lovely time there but only went for 2 days as we can’t cope with 3 days of partying anymore so I had some time yesterday for a little crafting….

This make is made using the Daisy Collection in purple which are available to download from docrafts Creativity Club from today. These papers are gorgeous and can be layered up with a matching cardstock to create really pretty cards.

I’ve added an scalloped aperture to this card to showcase the lovely designs in the range and I’ve used the fabulous stamps that came with the latest Creativity magazine to add a couple of sentiments. I’ve added it the docrafts Facebook page adding the hashtag #docraftsmonday. Why don’t you join in and add a project today? I would love to see them!

Have a great day.

Magazine Makes To Share

Hello everyone, it’s a lovely sunny day here on the Isle of Wight. I decided to sneak an extra Krafti day today (the perks of self employment!) so have been busy with a few makes. There never seems to be enough hours in the day!

Anyway, I have some makes to share today from two magazines that dropped on my doormat this week…

The first project is from the June Issue of Creativity. My sewing skills were put to good use this month and I created a bed runner and a matching cushion using the cute Tilly Daydream range.

My other make in the magazine is this notebook wrap. I was quite strange not making any cards this month but I’m always up for a challenge although to be honest it was like a normal day at work for me!

Finally, my third project can be found in the July issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft….

Some of you may know that I’m part of their online design team but this is my first magazine project for them and I’m really pleased with how it’s turned out.

Back to work for me, enjoy your weekend and I will be back for #docraftsmonday!

It’s a Gorjuss Monday!

Hello everyone, another week has flown by! I really don’t know where the time goes. I’ve had a very busy week with commissions to finish and then preparations for filming docrafts TV again last Wednesday. It’s always a bit nerve racking but it was good fun and thankfully it all went well. The best bit of the day was being lucky enough to look around docrafts HQ and see everyone at work, fascinating!

Anyway, it’s that time of the week again and for #docraftsmonday this week I have a mix of Gorjuss and midnight blush.

These capsule collections are great for mixing with other collections and the dark colours work well with my favourite girl Gorjuss.

Big bloomers are great for adding quick layers and for a bit of bling I’ve added some lovely sparky dome stickers and a lick of glitter glue.

Right, work beckons so have a good day all and I will be back soon…

Blue (#docrafts) Monday

Hi everyone, I hope all is well on this rather wet Monday! So….I’ve had a very busy crafting week with lots of deadlines to meet. I’m nearly there now but there’s still quite a lot that needs doing. I managed to have a break yesterday afternoon so we went to visit the family which turned into a big wine drinking session and then I fell asleep on the sofa at half past eight, oops. I have a slight headache this morning but hopefully a bit of crafting will get rid of it!

Anyway, here is my make for this weeks #docraftsmonday.

This card is a nice big 8 x 8″ so there’s plenty of space for lots of detail. I’ve mixed the Parisienne Blue, Madame Payraud and Bare Basics up for this, all from docrafts.

I’ve used some of the gorgeous Artiste spritzing inks on top of the layers to add a lovely sheen. I’ve also used a lace paper as a mask and spritzed through it to achieve an intricate pattern.

Finally I’ve added a mixture of wooden letters and alphabet stickers for the sentiment and lots of little bits and pieces to add interest. I hope you like it!

Have a great day all!

Radio Revamp for #docraftsmonday

Hello my crafty friends, I hope you got the chance to enjoy the wonderful weather this weekend. It’s been lovely here on the Isle of Wight and I’ve managed to spend lots of time with Hoobie before a very busy couple of crafty weeks begin. I did manage to fit in a couple of makes including something I made for #docraftsmonday…

I’ve had this radio for years and as much as I love the sound of it I hate the colour. It sits in a shelf on our bathroom and since I had some downloaded papers from Creativity Club I thought I would give it a beachy look to match the rest of the room.

Firstly, I gave it two coats of acrylic paint in sea green with hints of sand and then cut out lots of shells from the papers to glue on. I then spritzed over the top with white and blue spritzing inks and added a coat of varnish.

I also added some shells and a pinwheel, some fabric ribbon and a bow from the Eau De Nil range and finally a little row of bunting attached with some mini pegs. The finished radio has been given a new lease of life and fits perfectly in the bathroom.

Time to go to work!

Have a great day,

Gorjuss Goes To The Theatre

Hello all, I can’t say as I’m that chuffed that Monday has come around so soon but hey, at least it’s #docraftsmonday ! Before I go off to work I thought I would share another recent demo make using the fabulous new XCut Build – a – Scene dies..

I’m loving these fab new dies and once you get the hang of them you can achieve great results very quickly. I find the best way is to cut my chosen papers 5 x 7″ to start and die cut the top layer. I then position the next layer underneath, place the corresponding die on top and when I’m happy with the position use a piece of craft tape to hold it in place before die cutting.

I also tend to stick each layer down as I go along to avoid confusion later. There are illustrations on the front of the packets to help you build the scene up in the right order so it’s very straightforward.

I’ve used foam pads to add depth to my layers but you could just glue them down if you prefer a flatter card. Instead of using the figures came came in this die pack I couldn’t resist adding a small Gorjuss figure instead and some lovely blingy dome stickers. I hope you like it!

Have a great day!

Enjoying Eau De Nil

Good morning crafty friends, I’m just enjoying a nice relax this morning after a hectic couple of weeks. It’s been a blur of demo prep, demos and commissions which is wonderful but we all need a little crafty break sometimes!

So, I’m on my second cuppa and thought I would share a couple of makes using the wonderful new Eau De Nil Capsule range from docrafts. I’ve just looked up what that means and apparently it’s “water of the Nile”. Well I would like to think the colours are a little more pretty than that!

This first card is a very simple demo make. I think the colours work well with the kraftcard and inking and I couldn’t resist adding some of those cute alphabet stickers, they seem to still keep going!

The great thing about these Capsule ranges is you can mix them with your favourite stamps. I’m totally in love with this Gorjuss stamp and couldn’t resist another make with her! I reused this trusty sketch again as I really like it.

I added a little pink ink to the edges of the papers and gave Gorjuss a girly glow with a watercolour pen mixed with water. A Vintage Notes sentiment adds an extra bit of colour.

This fabulous, fresh range is now available at your local docrafts stockist, go on, have a play!
